Back in 2003 when the mash-up scene was practically unheard of, Pilchard was all over it like a particulary annoying and prolific rash. Having spent years DJ'ing at clubs and house parties, Tony Crackburn and Scott Cairo were bored of hearing the same old tunes being mixed together.

In a brave attempt to shake things up a bit, Tony and Scott would fill their record bags with music from such greats as The Carpenters, Doris Day and The Osmonds, along with a selection of unidentified lounge music and anything else that came to hand really. The DJ duo would then attempt to mix these records (using nothing but a basic mixer and a pair of record decks) with other beats, such as dub, ragga, breakbeat and acid house. But trying to shoehorn music together in this way was always going to end in tears, and the disastrous results normally cleared the dance floor in seconds!

Thankfully, however, Tony and Scott eventually blagged themselves some music software. At last they could create new music in their distinctive mix 'n match style, and Pilchard took their place in the mash-up hall of fame with the help of bootleggers' forum site GYBO.

Here is the definititive Pilchard collection, produced between 2003 and 2008. Enjoy!
